There are lots of videos about liquid chlorophyll on TikTok. But the chlorophyll trend is on other social media, too!
I heard all kinds of health benefits from liquid chlorophyll. As a woman with a full-time job and children, I was especially interested in the energy boost. I wanted to see how accurate those videos were, so for one whole month, I took 1 chlorophyll drink every day.

What is Chlorophyll Drink?
Chlorophyll is the green pigment plants use for photosynthesis and the main ingredient in chlorophyll water. Making a refreshing chlorophyll drink is easy. Just squeeze some chlorophyll into a glass of water. Watch the green swirls dance, then enjoy a healthy, refreshing, and hydrating drink. It really is that simple!
Liquid chlorophyll drops and chlorophyll water use chlorophyllin. Chlorophyllin is a water-soluble form of chlorophyll that is easier to digest and more readily absorbed by your body. A chlorophyll drink gets the chlorophyll into your system faster so it can start working its magic.
My Chlorophyll Drinking Journey Begins
I did my research before taking any liquid chlorophyll drink, and I’m glad I did.
My body doesn’t get affected too easily by most supplements, so I decided on a 200-milligram daily intake, which is more than a typical starting 100-milligram dose but less than the 300 milligrams per day maximum.
I chose to experiment for one full month, as I discovered some benefits like mental clarity and boosting energy may only show up after 30 days of regular use.
I will try to cover and respond to all questions that I had in my mind or heard before starting my chlorophyll journey.
I started the month by researching the question, “is liquid or pill chlorophyll better?”
My main goal is to boost my energy level. Between parenthood and a job, I often find myself out of steam. I’m also trying to lose a few pounds by committing to a healthy diet for a month.
The effects were minor during the first week, but I definitely noticed some changes. I felt fresher in the morning and was even able to skip my morning coffee without becoming irritable.
How I Drink Chlorophyll for Best Results
When I started my research on liquid vs pill chlorophyll, I soon decided on liquid chlorophyll drops over chlorophyll pills. I felt that liquid might be better than the tablet form because liquid chlorophyll is easier for your body to absorb. The chlorophyll in tablets is not water-soluble. That means much of it passes through your digestive system and never enters your body.
Chlorophyll drops are made with chlorophyllin, a water-soluble form of chlorophyll. Chlorophyllin soaks into your system and provides antioxidants, vitamins, and nutrients where you need them most. And when you are drinking chlorophyll water, you are also getting important hydration.
What Does Chlorophyll Taste Like?
A straight chlorophyll drink without any flavoring tastes like spinach with hints of moss and grass. While I got used to them after a while, I have to admit that chlorophyll drinks may be an acquired taste.
Thankfully, I discovered that you could also make chlorophyll water chlorophyll detox shots. Apple detox shots made a very pleasant-tasting drink that was full of chlorophyll goodness.
Often, I don’t drink enough water during the day. Apple detox shots made drinking more water a joy and gave my chlorophyll water a taste that I loved.
Does Drinking Liquid Chlorophyll Stain Your Teeth?
In the first week, I noticed a faint greenish film around my mouth and teeth after my chlorophyll drink. This was barely noticeable and soon went away after I began rinsing my mouth out and brushing my teeth soon after drinking. Regular brushing is a good habit to get into anyway so, in this case, chlorophyll helped me by encouraging better dental hygiene. Liquid chlorophyll will not cause any permanent staining to tooth enamel.
While I noticed only minor improvements last week, this week, I started seeing definite changes.
When the kids are fighting, it can be hard to handle the situation without yelling. But lately, I’ve been able to approach my children more mindfully.
My digestive system feels great and my bowels are running as smooth and regular as a Swiss watch.
TikTok says chlorophyll helps with body odor. I can smell and feel the difference, and so can my husband. (LOL)
Does Chlorophyll Help with Body Odor?
There’s a lot of talk about chlorophyll and body odor and, based on my experience, I can definitely say that it helps. I use a pretty strong antiperspirant to help me stop sweating. Usually, it works, great but there are always those off days. This week, I didn’t have any off days and, as my husband put it, generally smelled “more delightful.” Liquid chlorophyll and chlorophyll pills for body odor work as an internal deodorant by cleansing the whole body from the inside out. Chlorophyll helps your body eliminate toxins, leaving you with easier bowel movements and less body odor.
Does Chlorophyll Make You Poop?
If you use too much chlorophyll, you can wind up with diarrhea. I am taking 200 milligrams daily for a month and, so far, that has not been a problem for me. With this amount, there’s no discomfort like what you get with chemical laxatives. So far, I haven’t experienced diarrhea, cramping, or any of those uncomfortable sudden needs to run to the bathroom. My bowel movements have been smooth, easy, and regular.
As I entered my third week of taking chlorophyll drinks on a daily basis, I was feeling and smelling better than ever! By this time, it was clear that regular chlorophyll consumption offered real benefits.
This week, I noticed my face was less oily in the morning. Many people swear chlorophyll gives them clearer skin, and topical chlorophyll ointments have been shown to help with wound healing. Chlorophyll cleanses your whole body, which can lead to all-around improved health.
Does Chlorophyll Help with Acne?
I don’t have enough of a problem with pimples to say how well chlorophyll works with serious acne. But I noticed that, after three weeks of taking chlorophyll drinks every day, my skin was less oily and I had fewer blackheads on my chin!
There is no scientific evidence that suggests liquid chlorophyll helps clear skin. If you have serious acne, consult with your dermatologist rather than checking TikTok for videos on how effective chlorophyll for acne is. But based on my experience, chlorophyll cleanses your whole body and that cleansing helps give you better skin. Liquid chlorophyll for acne is not a cure-all but can be part of a complete skin treatment plan.
What Does Chlorophyll Do for Weight Loss?
I wouldn’t mind losing a little bit of weight (who wouldn’t?), but I wasn’t taking chlorophyll for weight loss.
Still, since starting the program, I have noticed a gradual weight loss of around 0.5kg per week. I’m quite happy, but this could also be the result of drinking more water and eating healthier, which I committed to doing this month.
I can’t say that it’s a direct result of chlorophyll cleansing, but I definitely have fewer cravings for unhealthy food. I used to have mountain-sized cravings, but since I started chlorophyll, they have shrunk to molehills.
As we go into the fourth week, I’m still noticing more results from my daily liquid chlorophyll intake.
I have more energy than I did three weeks ago. That extra boost gives me greater clarity of mind and makes me sharper and more focused at work and home.
I am also healthier and more energetic than I have been in a while. Chlorophyll is known for its rejuvenating properties, and my regular chlorophyll drinks have left me feeling years younger.
Is It Safe to Take Chlorophyll Drinks Everyday?
I think I can safely answer this question with a resounding”yes!” After a month, I have not noticed anything bad happening to my body. On the contrary, in my experience, taking chlorophyll drinks every day has helped me to become more active and feel better and fresher. You should consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing, or if you have an allergy to chlorophyll. But most people will find that daily chlorophyll does them no harm but rather a great deal of good.
What Side Effect Did I Experience with Chlorophyll Drink?
I had a mildly queasy stomach for a few days, as if my body was getting used to this new green addition. It faded quickly and was gone by the middle of the first week. After that, I had no other side effects.
If you are still having nausea issues after a few days, consider lowering your chlorophyll dose. Some people (like my husband) have more severe stomach issues and food sensitivities. I’d like to get my hubby on chlorophyll drinks to see if they help with his tummy issues, but we’ll have to see how he feels about it.
Chlorophyll Drinks Benefits : My Experince
After four weeks of drinking chlorophyll daily, here are some of the things I’ve noticed:
• Less body odor. It’s always nice to smell nice.
• Healthier gut. Less bloating, better digestion, and more regular bowel movements.
• Fresher skin. My skin feels more youthful and I’ve noticed less redness, dryness, and itching
• Mental clarity. I feel less stressed and more mindful with my children and coworkers.
• Boosting energy. I’m no longer tired in the evening or grumpy in the morning.
• Gradual weight loss. Chlorophyll water kept me hydrated and feeling more full.
What Happens If You Drink Too Much Chlorophyll?
A little bit of chlorophyll is good for you, and most people over 12 can consume up to 300 milligrams of chlorophyll daily. But if you take too much, you may experience some unpleasant side effects. The most common effects of drinking too much chlorophyll include nausea, diarrhea, and green stools. Some people also develop sensitivity to sunlight that can lead to painful rashes or blistering with sun exposure.
How Long Does It Take for Me to See the Results?
Because our bodies are different, your results may vary. Based on my experience, I recommend using chlorophyll for at least a month for full benefits. I wanted mental clarity and increased energy and, after a month, my mind fog has cleared significantly.
As far as chlorophyll and weight loss are concerned, I lost a modest amount of weight. While I couldn’t vouch for liquid chlorophyll benefits for acne, I noticed my skin was clearer and more youthful.
What’s Next!? Implementing Chlorophyll Drink Into My Routine
So, what can I say about liquid chlorophyll before and after?
After drinking 200 milligrams of chlorophyllin daily for a month, I feel significantly better. I started the month hoping to gain a little energy and lose a couple of kilos, and met both goals. My digestion has also improved, I feel less stressed, and I smell better after a workout.
Conclusion: it’s time to end my month-long chlorophyll experiment and make chlorophyll drinks part of my daily life!
How Long Does It Take to See Results from Chlorophyll?
While I only noticed minor results during the first week, within two weeks, I was seeing definite positive changes in my mood, digestion, body odor, and bowel regularity. I was seeing further improvements throughout the following two weeks, so I would recommend giving chlorophyll at least a month.

Chlorophyll water can provide you with hydration throughout the day, before yoga or during Shavasana, during or after working out, and after a night out.
